Senda Spotlight: U.S. Youth Futsal National I.D. Trials

On June 29-30th, 500+ of the best youth futsal players across the United States competed in the U.S. Youth Futsal I.D. National Trials. The Futsal I.D. State Trials, which occurs annually, have the objective of scouting the best youth futsal players to be invited to the U.S. Youth Futsal National I.D. Trials. Eventually, the U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams will be selected from the National Trials.

This year, the U.S.Y.F. National I.D. Trials took place in Kansas City, Missouri. There, some of the best youth futsal players competed to showcase their futsal skills and technical abilities. These players were overseen by the guidance of the United States National Coaching Staff to ensure for the highest degree of youth futsal development possible. Futsal I.D. Trials were available to boys and girls that were born between the years of 2000-2007.

These young futsal players were led by U.S. Youth Futsal Technical Director and former U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team Head Coach, Keith Tozer. Players had the opportunity to participate in two training sessions and four games during the two-day camp. 520 players from 34 states were guided by 26 coaches from 15 states. Also included in the coaching staff wasm Director of Goalkeeping Otto Orf, Futsal I.D. Director Soorena Farboodmanesh, and Boys/Girls Administrators Jason Miller and Brian Catrine.

Jon Parry, the Executive Director of the United States Youth Futsal Organization, had this to say about the U.S. Youth Futsal National Trials, “The National Trials are a high level, competitive, fun training camp that will prepare players to compete for their country in the near and long-term future”.

U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams that competed in the 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 age groups will travel to Medellin, Colombia on July 23rd; teams at the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 age groups will travel to Lisbon, Portugal or Canada on December 26th.

The trip to Medellin, “The City of Eternal Spring”, will allow the youth futsal players to train and play in a professional Futsal stadium. They may also get the opportunity to witness a professional Futsal match and meet the Colombian national team.
