Balls are Senda’s most popular and top-ranked products. Not only futsal and soccer balls, but also beach and freestyle balls. In a previous blog post, we discussed 4 key points you need to know when choosing from our ball line.
Once you have made up your mind and bought the right ball to fit your needs, it is very important that you know how to care for it so that it lasts in good condition for many years. Soon after you start playing with the ball it will not look as pristine as when you first bought it, but follow these tips and you will be able to enjoy it longer than you can imagine.
Keep it clean
It is obvious that balls get dirty after playing with them. That is not a problem at all. After you use it, remove excess dirt or grime from the surface with a wet cloth. It is a simple procedure that will make the ball more durable.
Caution: do not use detergents or bleaches, which may deteriorate the surface. Leather cleaners or just water are the best options.
Inflate it properly
A properly inflated ball will perform better. Over or under inflating it will impact directly how the ball reacts on the surface where you play. Before practicing, pay attention to the pressure level recommended by the manufacturer that is printed on the ball. Choose a good pump and a good needle.
Choose the proper surface
Soccer balls have been designed to be used on grass or turf. Futsal balls are meant to be used indoors on hard surfaces. Freestyle balls are ideal to be used on asphalt, pavement, or gravel, while beach balls perform best on the sand. Sometimes you don’t know where you will be playing. In that case, you may want to consider having more than one type of ball: for daily use, for matches, or simply different balls for different surfaces.

Avoid standing on it
Besides being dangerous, as you can get injured, standing on the ball will certainly damage its shape and structure to the extent that it may never again be used for playing. Even though balls resist hard kicks, they do not resist the weight of a person standing or sitting on it.
If possible, try not to kick the ball against the wall very frequently
Let’s face it: we have all played with a ball against a wall. It’s good solo practicing when you are alone at home. However, the pressure on the ball when it gets kicked repeatedly against the wall may cause severe damage. Again, think about having different balls according to the use you will have for each of them. In the event you can’t resist playing against the wall, try not to do it so frequently.
Proper storage
Unless at a club or a school, people typically keep their sporting gear at their home garage or at some outdoor space, where they are usually not so protected from unfavorable weather conditions such as rain or heat.
If you will not use the ball for a while, we would recommend that you deflate it carefully with the appropriate pump and needle and make sure that it keeps just a bit of air inside. This will make the ball more durable, as the inner parts such as the bladder and the shell will rest while the ball is stored.
TIPS
1- Keep it clean
2- Inflate it properly
3- Choose the proper surface
4- Avoid standing on it
5- Try not to kick the ball against the wall very frequently
6- Choose proper storage and if you will not use it for a while consider deflating it
