World of Futsal Podcast & Senda Partnership
Futsal continues to grow throughout America. The fast-paced, high-intensity indoor game is becoming more and more popular as we are now seeing grassroots futsal programs emerging all over the country. With all of these new programs and futsal initiatives appearing, the World of Futsal podcast hosted by Keith Tozer is the best place to receive weekly updates on all things futsal. Keith Tozer is one of the most influential futsal players and coaches in America and as the winningest indoor soccer coach of all-time he has a true love and passion for the sport. Tozer fell in love with the game when he represented America in his first-ever FIFA futsal tournament and since then he has gone on to be an icon of the futsal world. Tozer’s dedication to the game is what inspired him to start the WOF podcast with the intent of spreading knowledge about futsal. The podcast features interviews with professional players, coaches and successful men and women who are spearheading new futsal initiatives. Some of his most recent guests were futsal world cup champion and the ex-Argentina National Team’s futsal coach Diego Giustozzi as well as Javier Lozano the president of LNFS, the best and biggest futsal league in the world. Tozer has also interviewed our partners at Rose City Futsal, Barefoot Futsal and US Youth Futsal where he discusses the future of futsal and ongoing initiatives to grow the sport. Keith Tozer and Senda Athletics have held a long-time partnership as they both have a mutual love for the game. Both parties work in different ways to promote, build and spread awareness for the sport of futsal. Their end goal is to create a warm, knowledgeable futsal community that will empower the youth for decades to come. Senda Athletics collaborated with Tozer to hold the 2019 World of Futsal event in Chicago during January. It was amazing to see almost 200 futsal minded individuals come together to help grow futsal in the U.S. Moreover, it was a privilege to have U.S. soccer legends like coach Anson Dorrance of UNC, and former USMNT player Cobi Jones attend and to see them supporting a more technical and inclusive version of the game was amazing. The popularity of the event is a testament to the momentum the futsal is gaining in this country. To see pictures from this historic evening click here. Learn Futsal: Quick Spin to beat Your Defender with Matheus Palhinha!
Matheus Palhinha back once again and with yet another amazing futsal tutorial. In this video, Matheus presents and demonstrates a quick and effective spin to beat a defender down the touchline. Matheus explains that this is a simple move that requires two jumps to position your body correctly to do the spin. This spin is most effective when the defender is blocking the pass into the middle and forces you out wide. If done correctly, this spin can be very useful in creating up space on the flanks while also isolating the defender from the play. Here is Matheus showing you how to perform and practice this spin, step by step: Like mentioned in blog posts before, futsal requires you to use the soles of your feet to control and move the ball. We see that again in this video as Matheus initiates the spin using the sole of his foot. With enough practice, this dynamic step over adds an element of flair you can use to hone your craft. The next step is to get a Senda futsal ball available on our website and start practicing this nutmeg!

Senda Spotlight: A Dos Toques Cup
Futsal is currently the world's fastest indoor growing sport. Futsal is played in a five-a-side format on a smaller playing surface with smaller goal frames. Futsal is recognized for allowing soccer players to develop their skills on the smaller court which forces players to take more precise touches and quicker decisions which translate well once players apply such back onto the soccer pitch. Futsal is responsible for creating worldly recognized soccer stars such as; Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, and many others. In Argentina, Futsal is held to the same prestige as soccer. Futsal is continuing to grow and spread as more tournaments continue to be held every year. Buenos Aires held the 2019 installment of the "A Dos Toques Cup". A tournament which is made up of 40 teams and approx 800 players. Among those 800 players, the cup had an ex-professional presence with players like Walter Erviti who plays on Boca Juniors, and on the Argentinian National team, and Leonardo Gracian who also plays on Boca Juniors. The cup has also been home to South America's most famous sports journalist and narrator, Sebastian "Pollo" Vignolo. Throughout the years' teams like Racing, River Plate, Independiente, Argentinos Jrs, Huracan, Ferro, Platense, Barracas, Estudiantes de Buenos Aires, have participated in the tournament. Among those stars, Senda was also present in this year's edition as they were proud to be the official ball sponsor of the tournament. Senda's high quality & durable futsal balls allowed the tournament to run smoothly & without any complications. The 2019 final saw a full crowd in attendance as they saw "Camioneros" claim the title. This has been a long time coming as "Camioneros" well short in the last two finals they played in 2016 & 2017. This year they beat "Monte Viejo" in an exciting penalty shootout. "Monte Viejo" had opened the scoring with a strike from Balbuena however "Camioneros" quickly equalized with a goal from Peloso. The game remained leveled and headed to the daunting penalty kicks. It's important to note that futsal mostly differs from soccer in the aspect that in an average futsal match players make contact with the ball 100x times they would in a typical soccer game. Futsal forces quick touches and rapid decision making to allow build-up play to be effective.
