Senda Spotlight: Falcão USA Tour

Senda Spotlight: Falcão USA Tour

Futsal is the world's fastest-growing indoor sport and is beginning to see rapid growth in the United States. Futsal is responsible for developing some of the world's best soccer players. And so more & more international futsal superstars are holding clinics & training sessions for youth players inside the States. On June 20th, Four-time world's best futsal player & Brazilian International star Falcão held a clinic & exhibition match with Sole Futsal Center in Philadelphia. The clinic consisted of youth players ages 9-16 given a 90-minute session that included tips, tricks, and techniques with the futsal king. There was also a presence of other current soccer & futsal professional players present to provide extra guidance and assistance to the youth players at the clinic. The exhibition match took place later that night which saw Falcão and friends take on Philly Allstars.     Senda Athletics was present and worked closely with Sole Futsal Academy to provide the gear used during Falcão weekend clinic & game. Sole Futsal Academy strives to create a foundation of technical ability for its youth players.    By bringing in the Two-Time World Cup futsal champion, it was a great learning experience for the young futsal players present to see first-hand the most skillful futsal player to ever grace the sport. The clinic and exhibition game were a huge success thanks to all the players who took part and the spectators.  The success of the Falcão USA tour is a reflection that the United States does have a passion for futsal and the future of futsal in the United States continues to look more promising as time progresses.

Learn Futsal: How to beat a Defender that is Behind You!

Matheus Palhinha back once again and with yet another amazing futsal tutorial. Time and time again you find yourself trying to play against a high-pressuring defense and often times it can be very tough. In this video, Matheus presents and demonstrates a quick and effective move to create space in a high-pressure situation. Matheus explains that this is an effective move that allows you to beat a defender that is pressing tightly. This move is most effective when the defender is marking tightly and there isn't much space to dribble so you have to be cautious to see if the defender is still pressing before doing this move. If done correctly, this move can be very useful in creating space while also putting you through on goal.    Here is Matheus showing you how to perform and practice this move, step by step: Like mentioned in blog posts before, futsal requires players to use the soles of their feet to control and move the ball. You see that again in this video as Matheus initiates this spin move using the sole of his foot. With enough practice, this dynamic step over adds an element of flair you can use to hone your craft. The next step is to get a Senda futsal ball available on our website and start practicing this spin!

Time and time again you find yourself trying to play against a high-pressure defense and often times it can be very tough. In this video, Matheus presents and demonstrates a quick and effective move to create space in a high-pressure situation. Matheus explains that this is a simple move that requires you to check-in for a pass and as the ball comes, you use the defender's momentum against them & pull the ball in the opposite direction. This pullback is most effective when the defender is marking tightly and there isn't much space to dribble. If done correctly, this move can be very useful in creating space while also isolating the defender from the play.   Here is Matheus showing you how to perform and practice this move, step by step: Like mentioned in posts before, futsal requires you to use the soles of your feet to control and move the ball. World of Futsal Podcast & Senda Partnership

World of Futsal Podcast & Senda Partnership

Futsal continues to grow throughout America. The fast-paced, high-intensity indoor game is becoming more and more popular as we are now seeing grassroots futsal programs emerging all over the country. With all of these new programs and futsal initiatives appearing, the World of Futsal podcast hosted by Keith Tozer is the best place to receive weekly updates on all things futsal. Keith Tozer is one of the most influential futsal players and coaches in America and as the winningest indoor soccer coach of all-time he has a true love and passion for the sport. Tozer fell in love with the game when he represented America in his first-ever FIFA futsal tournament and since then he has gone on to be an icon of the futsal world. Tozer’s dedication to the game is what inspired him to start the WOF podcast with the intent of spreading knowledge about futsal. The podcast features interviews with professional players, coaches and successful men and women who are spearheading new futsal initiatives. Some of his most recent guests were futsal world cup champion and the ex-Argentina National Team’s futsal coach Diego Giustozzi as well as Javier Lozano the president of LNFS, the best and biggest futsal league in the world. Tozer has also interviewed our partners at Rose City Futsal, Barefoot Futsal and US Youth Futsal where he discusses the future of futsal and ongoing initiatives to grow the sport. Keith Tozer and Senda Athletics have held a long-time partnership as they both have a mutual love for the game. Both parties work in different ways to promote, build and spread awareness for the sport of futsal. Their end goal is to create a warm, knowledgeable futsal community that will empower the youth for decades to come. Senda Athletics collaborated with Tozer to hold the 2019 World of Futsal event in Chicago during January. It was amazing to see almost 200 futsal minded individuals come together to help grow futsal in the U.S. Moreover, it was a privilege to have U.S. soccer legends like coach Anson Dorrance of UNC, and former USMNT player Cobi Jones attend and to see them supporting a more technical and inclusive version of the game was amazing. The popularity of the event is a testament to the momentum the futsal is gaining in this country. To see pictures from this historic evening click here. We encourage everyone to go and listen to a few of World of Futsal podcasts as they truly open your eyes to the greater futsal community! worldoffutsal.com  If you are also interested in buying premium Fair Trade futsal gear be sure to explore our ball collection!   sendaathletics.com/collections/balls

INTRODUCING SENDA’S NEW LOGO AND CAMPAIGN: FREE YOUR GAME

INTRODUCING SENDA’S NEW LOGO AND CAMPAIGN: FREE YOUR GAME

Today we are pleased to announce Senda's new logo, made to reflect Senda’s commitment to embracing small-sided soccer and making the best products in the world for Futsal, Soccer, Street Soccer, and Beach Soccer. Our new logo will be slowly rolled out in the weeks and months ahead, with new and existing products. More specifically, you will see our new logo in our upcoming futsal footwear. Our new logo reflects a more free flow in both our typography and icon. Since the company brought Fair Trade standards to soccer in the USA, our brand has become a leader in small-sided soccer, collaborating with leading players, coaches and federations and bringing innovation and authentic products to the market.  SENDA [sen’-dah] is Spanish for path which is "the course along which someone travels" while also referring to, "a way of life, conduct, or thought". Reflecting the “path” of the Senda namesake, our icon signifies the free-flowing nature of playing soccer anywhere and the possibilities for showing individual creativity and improving your game. Such a path is rarely linear and may seem like a rollercoaster ride at times, but the goal is always to move forward. The logo was designed in collaboration with Bay Area Creative Director Sean Patrick McBride & independent calligraphy artist Sergey Shapiro. Through months of exploring the movements and flow of small-sided soccer and exploring writing styles in a variety of fields, our new icon and typography were born. Along with the new logo, we launch our new Campaign: FREE YOUR GAME. This call to action is a plea to help players play free their game from the boundaries associated with the game, as well as from the fear of making mistakes. It's a known fact the beautiful game isn't always accessible to all; from high team fees, uniforms, transportation, and geographical location being constraints put on players. At Senda we believe that the game should be made accessible to all, and a pitch can exist anywhere a ball can roll whether it be the streets, a gym, on the sand, old tennis courts, etc...   Our core belief is that the game can & SHOULD be played and enjoyed by all. That is why for over 8 years Senda has been providing soccer equipment to non-profit organizations that empower less privileged youth players, though ongoing sponsorships and partnership with Street Soccer USA, Soccer Without Border, And BORP Power Soccer Program. By supporting organization changing lives through soccer, Senda wants players to play OUR game to increase access to the beautiful game. With our new logo, we aim to spark a revolution that the beautiful game deserves!   As part of the Senda community, we invite you to join our vision and help make the game more accessible to all players in your community. Senda highly encourages you to help spark a change, whether it's speaking with your local city officials to turn unused tennis courts into soccer courts to organizing local pick-up games accessible to everyone, as well as donating to and volunteering with organizations like Street Soccer USA, Soccer Without Border, and BORP Power Soccer Program. No action or person is too small to help make a difference, and there is a role for everyone one of us to play.
