Senda Players Compete at the Futsal World Cup Qualifiers in Brazil

Now with the time that we have while we look forward to the 2021 tournament, we can look back at how each team played in the South American Futsal World Cup Qualifiers. Ignacio "Nacho" Laudano, Head of Product at the Senda team was present at the game, meeting with the best players in the continent who are interested in playing in Senda futsal shoes joining our fastly growing community. Senda’s Ignacio “Nacho” with Paraguay National Team player Richard Rejala   Ignacio witnessed the event from a very unique perspective and got to be a part of the behind the scenes action that took place in Carlos Barbosa, Brazil in early February. Out of the ten teams that competed four were set to advance to the Futsal 2020 World Cup. Coming in first place was the defending champion, Argentina. They defeated second place, Brazil, during the finals in a 3-1 comeback win. The Argentina squad showcased 9 veterans from the 2016 World Cup, and goals were scored by Cristian Borruto, Constantino Vaporaki, and Pablo Taborda. Argentina’s national team goalkeeper and teammate were photographed by Ignacio wearing the USHUAIA PRO futsal shoes. Goalkeeper Lucas Farach and Ala Santiago Basile   Despite Brazil’s loss in the final they still had an impressive road to the championship. They racked up 24 goals in five wins and zero goals scored against, making this team a serious contender for the 2020 World Futsal Cup. Third place was taken by Paraguay who had an impressive 2-6 win over fourth-place Venezuela. Paraguay’s road to the third-place play-off game came after an impressive showing in the group stage. The group stage split the ten teams into two separate groups, where only the first two teams in each group would advance to the semifinals. Paraguay earned second in their bracket only losing once to the bracket winner, Brazil. Two members of the Paraguay national team were photographed with Senda team member Ignacio, showing their support for the USHUAIA PRO shoes. Paraguay National Team Player Francisco “Pancho” Martinez Villalba    The Cinderella story of the tournament is awarded to the Venezuela national team, who will be making their debut in the 2020 World Cup for the first time in history. The Venezuela squad had an impressive showing in the group stage with 12 goals scored and 5 goals against. They finished the stage with 3 wins and one loss to the bracket winner Argentina. Ignacio had the chance to meet and share Senda’s goals with this history-making team. Venezuela National Team players: Milton Francia, Rafael Morillo y Wilson Francia Venezuela National Team player Carlos Vento    As a team member with Senda, Ignacio, had the unique opportunity to be behind the scenes with these players. These photos were taken shortly after Ignacio had the chance to play pick up with some of the South American qualifiers, reporters and coaches.  As the four qualifying teams prepare to take on the world-class stage, Senda is excited to be a part of their journey and can’t wait to support these players in the 2021 Futsal World Cup. We are proud to be gearing players in high performing and fair trade gear and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for each of these teams.

Learn Soccer Skills: How to do an Amazing Dribble in 2 Steps

Learn Soccer Skills: How to do an Amazing Dribble in 2 Steps

Coach Matheus Palhinha is back with another amazing soccer tutorial to help you elevate your game! In this tutorial, Matheus uses a Senda Valor Match Soccer Ball to teach you how to do an amazing 2 step dribble to help you beat your defender and go on to make a play. With this dribble, you will create more goal-scoring opportunities and help your teammates get more chances on goal too! When dribbling down the field on your opponent's half you are well faced with the challenge of getting passed a defender. You can rely on your speed or a sudden change of direction, but with the game getting more and more competitive sometimes you need a little more flare. So here is how you can beat your defender into space in 2 simple steps that will smoothly forge into 1 dribble. Step 1: While dribbling with speed, do a simple cutback (Note: This cut back is just a slight leap and back heel flick onto the opposite side of your body) Step 2: Do a stopover with the one foot and push the ball into space with the opposite foot to finish the dribble It's as simple as that! 2 simple steps and your off leaving your defender behind. When doing this dribble, you have to be careful to not hit the ball too hard during the cutback because you need to be able to do a step over once you perform the cutback. Make sure you keep the ball close to your body at all times.  Do you want to learn more soccer Skills? Here you can learn How to beat a defender that's behind you Now try it yourself! Learn Soccer Skills: AMAZING 1 vs 1 Dribble!

Learn Soccer Skills: AMAZING 1 vs 1 Dribble!

Brazilian coach, Matheus Palhinha is back with another amazing move to help you beat a defender! Many times while dribbling the ball on an opponent's half of the field or court, you do not have a clear path to make a pass or shot. This 1 vs.1 dribble allows you to create space for yourself to make a pass forward to a teammate or take a shot on goal. When dribbling the ball and approaching an opponent: Step 1: Step over the ball inward Step 2: Step over the ball outward (with the same leg used in Step 1) back to your original starting position Step 3: Drag the ball across your body with the foot that was NOT used for the step over and push the ball into space with the opposite foot (one fluid motion) Now let's watch Matheus show us a step-by-step with real speed examples!  This 3 step move that combines a variety of simple dribbles is a fantastic way to elevate your game on the field, court, or anywhere you find yourself playing. Check out the entire Senda ball collection and start practicing this dribbling skill in matches and training sessions. https://sendaathletics.com/collections/soccer

World of Futsal Podcast & Senda Partnership

World of Futsal Podcast & Senda Partnership

Futsal continues to grow throughout America. The fast-paced, high-intensity indoor game is becoming more and more popular as we are now seeing grassroots futsal programs emerging all over the country. With all of these new programs and futsal initiatives appearing, the World of Futsal podcast hosted by Keith Tozer is the best place to receive weekly updates on all things futsal. Keith Tozer is one of the most influential futsal players and coaches in America and as the winningest indoor soccer coach of all-time he has a true love and passion for the sport. Tozer fell in love with the game when he represented America in his first-ever FIFA futsal tournament and since then he has gone on to be an icon of the futsal world. Tozer’s dedication to the game is what inspired him to start the WOF podcast with the intent of spreading knowledge about futsal. The podcast features interviews with professional players, coaches and successful men and women who are spearheading new futsal initiatives. Some of his most recent guests were futsal world cup champion and the ex-Argentina National Team’s futsal coach Diego Giustozzi as well as Javier Lozano the president of LNFS, the best and biggest futsal league in the world. Tozer has also interviewed our partners at Rose City Futsal, Barefoot Futsal and US Youth Futsal where he discusses the future of futsal and ongoing initiatives to grow the sport. Keith Tozer and Senda Athletics have held a long-time partnership as they both have a mutual love for the game. Both parties work in different ways to promote, build and spread awareness for the sport of futsal. Their end goal is to create a warm, knowledgeable futsal community that will empower the youth for decades to come. Senda Athletics collaborated with Tozer to hold the 2019 World of Futsal event in Chicago during January. It was amazing to see almost 200 futsal minded individuals come together to help grow futsal in the U.S. Moreover, it was a privilege to have U.S. soccer legends like coach Anson Dorrance of UNC, and former USMNT player Cobi Jones attend and to see them supporting a more technical and inclusive version of the game was amazing. The popularity of the event is a testament to the momentum the futsal is gaining in this country. To see pictures from this historic evening click here. We encourage everyone to go and listen to a few of World of Futsal podcasts as they truly open your eyes to the greater futsal community! worldoffutsal.com  If you are also interested in buying premium Fair Trade futsal gear be sure to explore our ball collection!   sendaathletics.com/collections/balls
